The building will be open for drop-in from:
Friday November 25, 2016  - 4pm-10pm
Saturday November 26, 2016  -  9am-10pm




The Details:
1) Food:  Bring your own dinner for Friday night, snacks and lunch for Saturday. Saturday Pot luck dinner at 6:00

2) Games and prizes:        We will play BINGO again, Saturday around 7pm .  This theme will be FOOD or BEVERAGE,   With this time of year comes visiting friends and family and lots of good food and beverages to enjoy over the holiday season, so why not see what everyone can come up with .  Will you fill your plate, toss your cookies, or perhaps find yourself drunk as a skunk after this bingo? 


Volunteering:  As most of you know Volunteering is part of our membership....not a lot is asked of you, just 2 hours.  There are a variety of things you can help out with.  here is a short list of some of those ideas:   


Ideas include:

Artifact Research
Town and County History Research
Archiving and Cataloging
Cleaning Artifacts
Cataloging Artifacts
Data Entry

This is not all that is available but it some of it.  Feel free to call or come by and look for something that suits you.  We would like to remind you that you need to fill out the volunteer sheet for the museums records and take a photo of it to send to Carolyne so we can keep track of the volunteer hours.  


4) Parking: Please remember not to leave your vehicle at the side entrance, come in unload and move your vehicle to the parking lot...Thank you.

5)  Set Up & Clean Up:  Setting up will now be everyones responsibility, as you arrive you can set up your table and as you depart you can put it away.  There are plenty of us there to help out where you need it.

6)  APFA  (Alberta Parenting for the Future Association) is always looking for donations for their Christmas event where children can shop for their loved ones in a safe environment.  This year we are collecting handmade items to be put on display for children to pick from for their loved ones.  It does not need to be sewn but we do ask that they be handmade.  Items must be handed in before the end of November.
THIS IS COMING UP QUICKLY!!!  Please get donations in quick before time is up.

7) Canada Day:   As some of you know The Canadian Quilters Association is Collecting 12 and a half inch slab blocks and slab block quilt tops in preparation for the Canada's Big Quilt Bee this June.  Their goal is to make 1000 quilts to donate to Ronald McDonald house for Canada Day.  They ask that blocks contain at least one piece of the
Canada's 150th fabric from Northcott.  Carolyne has the instructions and info to hand out to anyone interested


8)  We know with the holiday season approaching stress can occasionally get the better of us so just a friendly reminder to be respectful of others.  There's no reason to bring negativity and drama with you, when we are all there for the same reason.  To sew with great people.  Each and every member bring more value and experience to the group and there is room for everyone.

Additional info for the UFO if you are interested, We will be having a tutorial at 1:30 for “What not Bags”. Here is the supply list:

 2- 10"X12"pieces of fabric ( the back of the bag)

 1-10" X12" piece of batting (or flannel or soft and stable or whatever, depending on how firm you want the back of your bag)

 4- 10: X 1 1/2" pieces of fabric ( the prints on either side of the zipper)

 1- 10"X10" piece of vinyl

 1 zipper longer than 10"

 Approximately 55" of 2 1/2" of wide binding folded and pressed.

 You can use leftover blocks if you want..anything goes

 A full set of instructions will be available as well

Hello Everyone,
Here are the details of our UFO weekend.
Hope everyone can make it out, even if it's only for one of the days!!1

UFO DETAILS:
The building will be open for drop-in from:
Saturday May 14, 2016-  9:00 am - 10:00 pm ($10.00)
Sunday  May 15, 2016  -  9:00 am - 4:00 pm ($10.00)


The Details:
1) Food:  Bring your own snacks and lunch. Saturday Pot luck dinner at 6:00, We are allowed to use the BBQ that is on site so don't hesitate to bring something to grill.  

2) Games and prizes:  Once again we are playing LRC (Left, Right, Center)  To participate you will need 3 Fat quarters.  This is a non-elimination and fairly quick game in which there is only 1 winner.  We hope everyone will enjoy it and participate.

The theme for this game will be RAINY DAYS  

3)Volunteering:  As most of you know Volunteering is part of our membership....not a lot is asked of you, just 2 hours.  There are a variety of things you can help out with.  here is a short list of some of those ideas:

8)  The Teahouse:  The Teahouse opens for the summer this weekend.  Feel free to stop in for lunch during the UFO it's just for one of the days!

Hello Everyone,
We are returning to our Sew In Saturday this week, Saturday May 7, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Our next UFO weekend is next weekend, Saturday May 14 from 9 am to 10 pm and Sunday May15 from 9 am to 4 pm, more info to follow.
Hope to see as many of you as possible for both weekends. Excited to see what everyone has been working on while on hiatus.

UFO Weekend

Hello Everyone,



UFO DETAILS:
The building will be open for drop-in from:
Saturday April 16 -  9:00 am - 10:00 pm ($10.00)
Sunday  April 17   -  9:00 am - 4:00 pm ($10.00)


The Details:
1) Food:  Bring your own snacks and lunch. Saturday Pot luck dinner at 6:00, We are allowed to use the BBQ that is on site so don't hesitate to bring something to grill.  

2) Games and prizes:  We are changing things up this time and playing LRC (Left, Right, Center)  To participate you will need 3 Fat quarters.  This is a non-elimination and fairly quick game in which there is only 1 winner.  We hope everyone will enjoy it and participate.

The theme for this game will be Blue/Orange/Yellow  our thought was since you  need 3 FQ's, you could bring one of each in complimentary colours.

4)  Set Up & Clean Up:   Remember to help out where you can.  The more help the less work for everyone.  Thank you.

7)  Tutorial:  The lovely Carolyne will be doing another tutorial for us.  This time the project is for potholders:

those who would like to participate, these are some instructions for you to prepare:

 

cutting directions to make 6 potholders from 4 fat quarters or scrap fabrics

1. cut six 1 1/2" strips WOF {aprx 21"} from each fat quarter or a scrap folder

2. cut six backings:

{ 10" x 11" for hexagon potholders }
                      or
{ 10" x 10" for square potholders }

3. cut six pieces of batting to match your six backings.

4. cut six pieces of insulbright or batting to match your six backings.

5. cut six binding strips WOF {most people cut at 2.5" )

Hello Everyone!!!   We just wanted to say a BIG Thank you to everyone for Helping out, attending or visiting us during our OPEN HOUSE last weekend (Feb 27/28 2016).   It was a great success and we enjoyed seeing everyone.  We had some great quilts and projects on display for the weekend, i hope everyone had an opportunity to see them all.  

This Saturday we have our usual Sew-In-Saturday planned.  All you need to bring is your machine and personal tools, your project and the days $5 fee.  We have the Coffee, tables, cutting matts, rulers and irons already.    We hope to see lots of you out to join us.

Good Evening Quilters!

We had just an amazing Open House and UFO Weekend this last weekend, what a great couple of days.  This was a fabulous opportunity for our guild members to really shine and share their fantastic work.



A big thank you to Cindy from Sewing with Class for getting us excited about some of the new products that they are carrying, can't wait to use them.

Our regular Sew in Saturday will be this Saturday March 5th, 2016 at the Museum, see you then!
